I found some information about a children's culinary academy located in Vermont. During their summer camp they offer aquaponics training for kids, ages 10-17. What a great way to get a whole new younger generation excited about the potential of aquaculture and aquaponics! You can take a look at what's happening in Vermont by checking out

I liked this article From Feb. 12 "Science" journal...
Continuing population and consumption growth will mean that the global demand for food will increase for at least another 40 years. Growing competition for land, water, and energy, in addition to the overexploitation of fisheries, will a

Consider this conversation between the leader of an interplanetary explorer fleet and one of the fleet commanders (taken from a story by science-fiction writer Terry Bisson as quoted in “How The Mind Works” by Steven Pinker, W.W.Norton, 1997)
“They're made out of meat.”
“Meat?”
“There's no doubt about it. We p…

Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch program posted the U.S. freshwater prawn is now, officially, a 'green' product!
It is the very first shrimp/prawn to achieve a green ranking in every one of the five sustainability criteria since Seafood Watch began assessing seafood in 1999!…

Dear AquacultureHub Members,
Wow! Is it just us or do your feel like you’ve been on a rowdy rollercoaster ride during 2009 (although we’re told it was the year of the OX :-)? Major government support, major layoffs and furloughs, rising unemployment and belt tightening everywhere got us quite tense. Thus, we’re ready for 2010!
As we go through 2009, we were deeply moved by the sustained support of the AquacultureHub ohana. We know you have busy lives and limited time on the web. We greatly app…

I have a client that owns a trucking firm and agricultural enterprises. One of his large facilities is now vacant, and he is interested in the possibility of establishing a tilapia farm. I believe that he is uniquely situated to seriously pursue an endeavor. He already has farming and ranching experience, he can support the logistics, and he has a facility that could possibly be used to house an operation.

Dear Peter and Glenn,
I have been wanting to set the record straight about Tim Mann and Susanne Friend claiming and periodically being credited with "bringing aquaponics to Hawaii." They did hold the first public workshop that set off the current interest in the UVI aquaponics technique, and they should be credited for that. However, Terry Astro of Aurea, Inc. had previously contracted the services of Rebecca Nelson and John Pade, noted consultants in the aquaponics industry, to assist him with…
